Convention of movie trailers

After doing some research I now know the conventions of a movie trailer which are;
  • Text
  • Soundtrack / Diegetic - Most films have soundtracks
  • Ratings
  • Reviews
  • Institutions
  • Release date - This is shown at the end of trailers so the audience know when the film is released.
  • Intro to actors - Trailers mainly show the main characters that are within the film. This is so the audience can get used to the characters and so they get a good understanding of who they are within the film.
  • Editing - The editing is important within a trailer because, trailers have to be careful that they don't show too much of the film and so that they don't give away to much to there audience. Also, they have to keep it a certain length so that it doesn't drag on too much.
  • Voice Over - The voice over within the trailer is usually a narrator that explains the main plot of the story.
  • Camera shots / angle - Trailers will shows a variety of camera shots. These camera shots usually show the emphasis on the characters.
  • Genre - The genre of the film is usually shown within the trailer. This means that the trailer will have the same codes and conventions of a genre depending on the type of genre it is.
